Account & Data Deletion

You are in control of your Talxen account. You can permanently delete it — and the personal data associated with it — at any time, without contacting us. This page explains how, what is removed, what we are required to keep, and how long it takes.

1.Delete from the app (recommended)

  1. Open Talxen and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Account.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Tap Request account deletion, then confirm.

This immediately queues your account for permanent deletion and signs you out on all devices.

2.Request by email (if you can't access the app)

If you have lost access to the app or your device, email support@talxen.com from the email address on your account, or include the phone number on your account, with the subject “Account deletion request”. We will verify ownership before processing to protect you from someone else deleting your account.

3.What is deleted or anonymised

  • Your profile identifiers — phone number, email, username, display name, avatar, and “about”.
  • Your active sessions and sign-in identities (you are signed out everywhere).
  • Device push tokens and notification preferences.
  • Your blocks, mutes, starred messages, and private message-visibility settings.
  • Any remaining one-time-code remnants.

Your account row is anonymised in place so that historical group membership and safety records keep valid references, but it no longer identifies you.

4.What may be retained, and why

We retain a limited set of records where we are legally required to, or where they are needed for safety, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or abuse-investigation purposes. This may include moderation actions, report records, child-safety incident records, and audit logs. These are kept only as long as necessary and then removed.

Messages you already sent to others: messages or media you delivered to other people may remain in those recipients' accounts unless our policy or the law requires removal — just like a message you sent by any other means.

5.How long it takes

Deletion is processed automatically by our retention system. Personal identifiers are typically removed within 30 days of a verified request, and backups cycle out shortly after. Records we are legally required to keep are removed once their retention period ends.
